It seems as though the world has been collapsing in on me lately. Perhaps you’ve felt it too. Life at work, life at home and life at church and with family has felt like a juggling act where someone keeps throwing more objects in to see if you can keep up. Even just taking a few minutes out of my day to write these few words has seemed like a monumental task but, my heart and my spirit changed when I read these words in Isaiah 43.
1: But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
2: When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3: For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour:
All of a sudden, everything changed and became very calm. I realized that I had been focusing on the problems instead of THE solution. I prayed, as our Pastor preached recently, with a determined focus and asked for God to take care of the things that were burdening my mind. No the problems didn’t go away, they’re still there and probably growing and multiplying. The difference is, I am now assured that I don’t have handle them alone. How about you? Are you focusing on the “overflowing waters” or the “burning fire”? Or are you steadfast in your resolve that He is your Saviour, and that is enough.
